OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
HOW TO SET UP THE INFLATABLE SUP/SUPYAK AND MOTOR OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: UNPACK AND INFLATE THE STAND UP PADDLE BOARD
-
Take out the SUP from the bag (Fig 1).
-
Unfold the SUP (Fig 2).
-
Connect the inflation hose to the inflation valve (Fig 3). Substitute hand pump with supplied electric pump.
-
Inflate the SUP to 1.03 bar (15 psi) (Fig 4).
-
Close the valve before use (Fig 5)
-
To re-pack the SUP, reverse this order.
DEFLATING AND RE-PACKING THE SUP
-
Deflate the SUP by pushing on the pin and rotating clockwise. (Fig 2).
-
Fold the SUP, but not more than 10 cm every time (Fig 3).
-
Pack the SUP (Fig 4).
-
Insert the SUP in the bag (Fig 5).
STEP 2: INSTALL THE JET MOTOR TO THE FIN MOUNT
THE FULLY CHARGED BATTERIES (4) WILL ALREADY BE CONNECTED WITHIN THE CYLINDER BODY. FOLLOW THE PICTURE DIAGRAM IN ORDER BELOW
-
(Fig 1) Connect the black SSC bluetooth receiver to the rail on the motor tube by sliding it into the groove of the rail and lifting the small front latch. Slide it until it clicks into place linking the BT receiver to the electric motor. When properly attached the SJ logo on the opposite end of the receiver cord will be blinking letting you know its ready to pair to the wrist remote.
-
(Fig 2) Turn the wrist remote on by holding the round toggle button down for at least 5 seconds or until the display screen illuminates.
-
(Fig 3) To pair the wrist remote to the BT receiver, press the round toggle button 2X to access Settings. Scroll down to PAIR and press the button once to choose. Make sure BT Mode is set to SINGLE and scroll down to SJ 1, pressing the button once to choose. By pressing the button once you choose, pressing the button 2X makes you go back to the previous menu. Scroll to the 9 digit number and click on it once. If the 9 digit number is not present in SJ1, try opening SJ2. Sometimes the BT connection is not paired immediately while completing this process and you may need to repeat this sequence a few times to pair successfully. You can test a successful pairing by pressing the button 2X until you get back to the Home Display Screen and twist the round toggle button clockwise to start the motor. When doing this test, only toggle your speed to 8%.
-
(Fig 4) Once paired, insert the rail of the motor into the groove of the fin mount to connect it to the SUP. While sliding the rail into the groove press the round flange on the fin mount down to allow the tube to slide all the way up to the BT receiver, leaving about half an inch of distance from the receiver. Let the round flange loose to allow the pin to click and lock in the rail to the fin mount. Wrap the excess receiver cord around the fin mount once and connect the SJ receiver to the velcro on the top side of the SUP above the inflation valve. Connect the motor cable leash to the SUP by disconnecting one carabiner and threading it through the SUP leash ring and reconnecting it to the motor.
-
When entering the water, carry the SUP above your head, equally distributing the weight of the tail motor to balance the board. Carefully place the SUP into the water making sure it is deep enough to not damage the attached motor on the water floor.
-
(Fig 5) Activate the motor by twisting the round toggle button on the wrist controller clockwise. The home screen will display your speed % as well as the battery % on the bottom of the screen. To decrease speed, turn the round toggle button counter clockwise. Take some time to practice using the wrist remote as well as steering the SUP while using the motor.
-
(Fig 6) When returning the SUP KIT to the travel case, Slide the motor tube off the fin mount by pressing down the round flange and sliding the rail out of the fin mount groove. Remove the BT receiver by lifting the small lip on the front and sliding it back off the rail groove. Place the motor tube, BT receiver, wrist controller and motor leash cable back in their designated places within the case.

STEP 3: STEERING, SPEED, BATTERY LIFE AND WATER SAFETY
-
To steer the SUP while the motor is running, place the wide area of your paddle to the rear and on the side of the SUP of the direction you are intending to go. For example, to turn left place your paddle against the rear left rail and angle the paddle 30 degrees out. This applies to turning right as well. The deeper you place your paddle into the water, the more effective you will be. Turning is slow, so be aware of your surroundings and try to make small course adjustments instead of having to turn suddenly. To turn immediately, drop down to a seated position if you are not already and place your leg into the water on the applicable side of the SUP you wish to turn. This will immediately pivot the SUP. Reduce your speed to assist with safe and effective steering. Practice your turning ability in the beginning of your adventure in a wide area away from other people to become accustomed to it. It's easier then it sounds!
-
Maximum speed at 100% is about 8 mph on calm waters. We recommend only going up to 50% speed over long distances to prolong the life of the batteries. Monitor your battery use percentage on the wrist remote and power down your speed accordingly to conserve battery for your entire trip. For example, on the Wailua river from the launching ramp to secret falls and back is about 3 miles round trip. At 50% speed the entire way the battery will last the whole trip. WInd conditions and current can affect your speed so you may want to make adjustments in how fast you are going depending on these factors. On a windy day you may want to conserve your speed while traveling down wind or with the current to save your battery for when you are traveling up wind or against the current.
-
At full charge the batteries provide up to 4 hours of use. To use the batteries to there full potential you will need to moderate your speed. The faster you go the more power you use. We recommend factoring in the distance you plan on traveling and time you will need to utilize the motors for the entire trip. When the batteries reach 20%, the motor automatically powers down to 20%. One rule we always follow is to conserve at least 50% of battery life up to the halfway point of your trip. If you use all of the battery power the motor will shut off and you will need to paddle the remaining distance.

The safety of our guests and visitors is paramount. Please refrain from any reckless behavior and give ample distance to others. Wailua river does contain small boats and pontoons that have the right of way. When on Wailua river, please stay on the right (north) bank up the river and the same side down the river as well. Be safe and have fun!
